England and Italy

We had such an amazing opportunity to go over to Europe for a couple weeks with my family to celebrate Jamie's graduation! We started the trip off in England where we visited Trent's best friend Bradford at Oxford for a few days.  Then we spent 10 days in Italy.  5 days in Rome and 5 days in Florence. We also took day trains over to Pompeii, Pisa, and Venice.  Sorry for the picture overload.  Trent discovered a new hobby while we were there and took over 1600 pictures over the 2 weeks!!! So this is a VERY condensed version of the pictures we have.

This was one of our first stops around Oxford.  Do you recognize it? It is the dining hall from Harry Potter! My Harry Potter dreams were coming true. I was happy it was even set up like the movie was!

This is Trent "punting" around Oxford.  Pretty much you stick a pole in the river and guide the boat that way.  I had the biggest struggle, but Trent was a natural.

We went over to Stonehenge one afternoon.  It was cool to see but in all honesty, I don't think I'll ever go back.  If you've seen a picture of it before you have seen all there is to see haha.

This was at the Tower of London with the Tower Bridge in the background.

Bradford, Megan, me and Trent posing for the 4th or 5th time to get this picture.  We had a bit of a struggle finding someone who was camera savvy enough to take this for us.

Westminster Abbey

My Royal Wedding dreams came true too when we saw where the Royal party was during the production.

Here is the countdown to the Olympics in London this summer.  This was in front of the British National museum in Trafalgar Square.

This was in front of Buckingham Palace.

We had a great opportunity to go to the London temple before we left.  The grounds are probably my favorite out of any temple I've seen before.

So long England! We're heading to Rome!

We met up with my family and flew down to Rome together from England.  This is Jamie and me in front of the entrance to the Vatican.

Trent inside of St. Peter's Cathedral.  Such an amazing place! There was pure gold all over the place!

Just a funny little picture of us all inside the Coliseum again

Jamie was getting bored with the regular smiling pictures so we tried to change it up a bit

We went to the Galileo museum in Florence and they definitely had 2 of his fingers and one of his teeth on display. Pretty fascinating but also a little weird.

We loved Italy and look forward to visiting again someday!

Life happenings

Well I have not been good about posting, as usual, but we have had a lot of big things happen in our lives the last few months.

Trent and I both finished our bachelors degrees in December and could not be more thrilled about it.  Trent graduated in Public Health and I graduated in Dental Hygiene. (Trent didn't walk for graduation hence no picture of his)

We were then lucky enough to spend Christmas with my family up in Idaho at the family cabin.  This was my first time up there during the winter and it really wasn't as cold as I thought it would be.  It was so great being able to go skiing and snowmobiling and to pick out and cut down our own Christmas tree.  We especially loved having Caleb and Natalie around to make it a little more exciting.

A few days after Christmas we made our way back to Provo to move out of our first apartment together.  We had to sell the rest of our stuff and pack it all up.  This was a bitter sweet thing for us.  We really did love our setup down there but we were really excited to move on from the BYU life.

After all of that commotion we moved down to Arizona until this summer when Trent starts Podiatry school in Ohio.  When we got there the first thing I had to do was get all of my licensing complete so I could practice dental hygiene here.  That ended up taking a little longer than I thought, but by the end of January I was licensed and ready to work.
On January 27, the day before Trent's birthday, I found out I was pregnant! We decided not to tell everyone until we went to the doctor and made sure everything was good and normal.  Only our parents knew until I was about 13 weeks along and then we told our families.  As of now I'm almost 17 weeks and my due date is September 24th!

Since then I have been working as a temp hygienist until we get out to Ohio. This has been really nice because I feel like I've been able to improve my skills and learn a lot about different offices.  It is also nice to be able to pick when I work and not feel guilty if I have to take a few days off.

We also just traveled to England and Italy with my family! This was a once in a lifetime experience, but that will just have to wait for another post with a couple hundred pictures.  But life is going good now and we look forward to our last couple months in Mesa and then moving on to Ohio for our next big adventures!

Provo Halloween Half Marathon

I finally ran in my first Half Marathon! The race was from Aspen Grove down Provo Canyon to the Riverwoods mall. Now that the soreness has worn off I'm feeling pretty good about doing it. I have been wanting to do this half for the last couple years but got a knee injury 2 years ago and didn't have time to train last year. Since we are moving next month I figured this was my last chance. My little sister Jamie came up and ran it with me so that helped motivate me to do it no matter what. I will say though that the run was great but the experience as a whole was not quite up to my expectations. We picked up our race bib and t-shirt the day before at the University Mall and the line seriously went the whole length of the mall. It took forever!! From what I heard, previous years were not like that so I know this was not normal. Then the next morning they said to be to the buses between 530 and 6 so Jamie and I showed up at 550 and waited until after 7 to get on a bus! Now this normally wouldn't be such an issue but it was 30 degrees outside, and we only had a light jacket on. Not ideal! I had a cold for a few days after the race which was not fun at all. But, all those angry feelings aside, I am glad I finally did it! I ran it in 2:12! I was feeling pretty good about about that time because I really didn't train a ton for it. I have been extremely busy with school so I really only ran long runs in the few weekends before the race. I think if I ever do another race I will make training a higher priority. I had it built into my head that it was all downhill so it would be easy, and it was not easy haha. Around mile 9 my body started hurting a ton from the steep downhill from the first 5 miles. At mile 11 I was pleasantly surprised when Trent and my parents were waiting to see Jamie and me. It helps a lot to have such great support. I felt a little more energized at that point and felt to motivation to finish strong.

Trent took this picture at mile 11 when they surprised us!

This is a picture of my good friend Janae from Hungry Runner Girl, me and my sister Jamie.
