Provo Halloween Half Marathon

I finally ran in my first Half Marathon! The race was from Aspen Grove down Provo Canyon to the Riverwoods mall. Now that the soreness has worn off I'm feeling pretty good about doing it. I have been wanting to do this half for the last couple years but got a knee injury 2 years ago and didn't have time to train last year. Since we are moving next month I figured this was my last chance. My little sister Jamie came up and ran it with me so that helped motivate me to do it no matter what. I will say though that the run was great but the experience as a whole was not quite up to my expectations. We picked up our race bib and t-shirt the day before at the University Mall and the line seriously went the whole length of the mall. It took forever!! From what I heard, previous years were not like that so I know this was not normal. Then the next morning they said to be to the buses between 530 and 6 so Jamie and I showed up at 550 and waited until after 7 to get on a bus! Now this normally wouldn't be such an issue but it was 30 degrees outside, and we only had a light jacket on. Not ideal! I had a cold for a few days after the race which was not fun at all. But, all those angry feelings aside, I am glad I finally did it! I ran it in 2:12! I was feeling pretty good about about that time because I really didn't train a ton for it. I have been extremely busy with school so I really only ran long runs in the few weekends before the race. I think if I ever do another race I will make training a higher priority. I had it built into my head that it was all downhill so it would be easy, and it was not easy haha. Around mile 9 my body started hurting a ton from the steep downhill from the first 5 miles. At mile 11 I was pleasantly surprised when Trent and my parents were waiting to see Jamie and me. It helps a lot to have such great support. I felt a little more energized at that point and felt to motivation to finish strong.

Trent took this picture at mile 11 when they surprised us!

This is a picture of my good friend Janae from Hungry Runner Girl, me and my sister Jamie.

Utah/ASU Football Game

I know it is a miracle! I am posting 2 posts in 2 days! We just did something pretty exciting today so I felt I should share. We went to the Utah/ASU game in Salt Lake. We were fortunate enough to get seats in the CocaCola box. Unlimited Diet Coke? Yes please!!! It will be pretty tough to go back to normal seats after today. We showed up and were immediately shown to the lunch buffet which was essentially a Thanksgiving Dinner. Then during the second half we were given hot chocolate and unlimited popcorn. Seriously, I loved every minute of this day! Football is just so fun to watch when you are sitting in a warm room (it was freezing outside and rained during part of the game) and eating food that you didn't have to pay for. I won't lie, it also felt pretty good to cheer against Utah while eating their food and sitting in their best seats. Utah started off the game doing great but then the sun came out in the second half and the Sundevils stole the show.

I just want to clarify that I am not wearing red for Utah, it is Maroon for ASU!
Trent insisted on taking a picture in front of the picture in the hall. He then wanted to take a picture of me in front of it but I refused to partake in such nonsense. Don't ask me why he thought it was so cool because I don't get it.

Fall

I am oddly enough enjoying the weather changing in Utah this week. I never thought I would appreciate the cold like I do this year. Maybe this is due to it being probably our last change of the seasons in Utah. This seems so surreal to me so I am trying to take full advantage of this Fall weather.

I am looking forward to everything the next few months will bring to us.Christmas is just around the corner people! And do you know what that means.....? Trent and I will be college graduates!!!! This has been 20+ years in the making. I cannot believe it is so close. I do have to say, we are having major issues with Senioritis in the Romney household. Trent is taking his last hard classes and applying to Podiatry school and I am studying for my boards examinations and going to school everyday from 8-5. Whoever decided that Dental Hygienists should take 6 different boards in the span of 1 month was off their rocker. I am trying so hard to stay motivated to study but it is so close to the end I want to just skip the studying part and get to the real world part.

Besides graduating in 66 days, we have a lot of other things to look forward to. My little sister and I are signed up to run in a Halloween half marathon at the end of October. I have wanted to do this half marathon for the last few years but due to other circumstances I haven't been able to do it but this year it wasn't an option. I felt like this was my last chance. We'll see how that goes though since our training has been minimal, but I am excited to accomplish this goal. We also have been going to BYU football games which is always a good time, especially when they win their games. But most of all, we are excited to not have such a hectic life that keeps us away from everything fun in the world! It will be amazing to see Trent everyday and not have to worry about either of us locking ourselves in the other room to study. Granted it will probably only be like this for about 8 months until Trent starts school, but we'll take what we can get.
Well unfortunately I'm not very good at taking pictures but here are some things we've been up to latelyMy Grandpa Robison passed away at the end of July. We had a family reunion the week before he passed and we were all able to see him one last time. It was a very sweet and special experience for all of us. It was great to have everyone in the family there to celebrate his incredible life. My uncle Dan and his family were in Northern Utah for a week and we went to the Indian Festival with them in Spanish Fork. Trent and David were having a good time goofing off together.

Father's Day

So this post should really be entitled "Parents Day" because I didn't write a Mother's day post so this will just be a combination of the two. In church today, the people were speaking about their parents and families, this might be vain of me, but I kept thinking that Trent and I really have the best families out there and others just don't compare. I am so amazed at the dedication our parents have to each one of their kids. They are always available for advice and help with everything we need. It is a rare thing to come from a family where everyone generally makes good decisions and is active in the church. I don't think this is a coincidence that our families are both like this. We have such amazing examples to follow and our parents are the best people we know.

My dad and me watching some BYU football. Somehow I can't find any pictures with my parents and me all together so this is the next best option.

And how can I have a Father's Day post without acknowledging the father to my future children. Trent is going to be the best dad someday and I am so lucky to have him here with me. He is the goofiest person to be around and can always make me laugh even if I'm mad at him, and then it makes me even madder that he can make me laugh at him. But in all seriousness, I can't imagine my life without him. There is never a dull moment when Trent is around. He is so thoughtful all the time and so great. I love you Trent!!

Forgiveness

I was so impressed with this video and wanted to share it with you. Be prepared for a bit of crying because it is very sad, but so admirable. This man is such a great example and has so much faith to go through this trial with such a positive attitude.
