Finally Legal!

Well I am officially 21 years old!! Ironically it was the first birthday I have spent away from Las Vegas that I can remember. I'm finally aloud to pull a slot machine (legally) and I wasn't even around to do it. Oh well... next time we're in town Trent and I will have to make a trip to the local grocery store or gas station to suffice my desires. Isn't that slightly ridiculous that there are slot machines all over the place? My parents house is probably walking distance from 30 different ones. I have come to realize that my hometown is really quite different than many places.

We had an eventful weekend with lots of play time. On Saturday morning, Paige and I went and ran in a 5k. This was the first race both of us have competed in and it was so fun!! I could see that becoming a thing I could get into in the future. It was such a perfect morning too. It felt great outside which was a definite plus. About 5 minutes after we finished it started to snow very lightly. About an hour later it was a BLIZZARD!!! We were very grateful that we were done. Later that afternoon Trent and I went up to Becky and Ryan's house for a weekend full of RISK. This game causes quite a bit of tension every time we play together. I will admit, the first game I did start to cry a little bit, but it turned out ok because nobody wanted to kill my players and make me cry again. Thank you emotions. Other than that it was a great time hanging out up there.

So I had quite the eventful birthday... First thing in the morning (1am) Trent woke up to a loud noise. He thought it was the dryer so he got up to turn that off. Then he walked into our front room and saw a huge light coming in through the window. We then noticed a huge firetruck right in front of our apartment!!!! For those who have been to our apartment, you would probably agree that it is in a slightly ghetto area of town. So this firetruck kinda freaked us out a little bit. After talking about the possibilities about what it could be for a solid 10 min, we decided to go outside and ask the firemen. Don't worry, there was an ignitable substance all over a house in front of our apartment. It is quite possible someone wanted to blow the house up. Awesome. We really do live in the slums and that solidified it for me.

So we go back to bed and I luckily didn't have work so it was a relaxing day. Trent did however still have to go to school. So I was home alone and then there was a knock at the door... hmm kinda weird cuz we don't normally have people come over during the day. I look out the peephole and see a guy with a huge farmers hat on. I was on the phone with my sister Niki so I figured if he were to kidnap me, she would know and call the cops. So I wearily opened the door. The guy hands me an invitation to a meeting for his church. Yes I did indeed have my first encounter with a Jehovah's Witness. This may not seem like a big deal to many, but I thought it was crazy. A Jehovah's Witness in Provo, UT? Good luck buddy! So that sums up my weird day. Probably not too weird but our lives are normally much more boring so it brought in a little bit of a variety.

Other than all of that craziness, I had a great birthday because of a great husband!! He made me breakfast in the morning, then left school early and we went shopping! We went to Costco and Trent bought a TENT! So it was like a birthday for both of us. Later that night we went to Tepanyaki with Melissa and Becky and Ryan. Then went home and watched Oklahoma. Yes the musical made many many years ago. It was awesome!

  2. Man, Kayla, you kinda sound like me when I am home alone. I always say, "What if I get stolen?" haha or something dramatic like that! But, hey, it happens to us girls that aren't used to being alone as much. :) Sounds like you had a fun birthday!

  3. Sounds like a big day! My family loves to play Risk, I have to admit I'm pretty ruthless when I play. :)
